Alor Setar City Center hotels & places to stay

Location is good, 10mins from city centre by car. Superior room is sufficiently spacious for a king bed, writing table, side tables, ironing board, an extra bed, cupboard and a small cofee/tea making facilities. The fancy fridge was not working as expected at first, we informed the front desk and they promptly have it replaced. Bathroom was clean and spacious too. Overall, very comfortable. If I could hv 1 suggestion, perhaps there could be extra lighting units on top of the bed for an option to make the room brighter. Love the surrounding as well, Tesco hypermarket is right across the road, there are local eateries from morning till night time at the left and right of the hotel. Delicious as well. Will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in Alor Setar.

We were travelling back to Sungai Petani from our road trip to Thailand. We decided to stop for a night at Alor Setar (last minute decision). Too tired to drive back we randomly searched for budget hotel around Alor Setar. I made a call to The Leverage (Bandar Baru Mergong) and made my booking via phone call. However, my husband insisted that i try our luck to book via Agoda; hoping to get better price. And we were lucky we got what he wanted. When we reached the hotel, showed the receptionist copy of Agoda voucher. She noted that i did make a booking earlier, however, (i am so sorry), since i have the voucher, she took our booking and proceed with the registration with no questions asked. I am so thankful for her understanding in handling our registration. She was being very profesional and still able to give assistants in giving us direction on where to eat nearby. 5 thumbs up to that particular staff. The room, small BUT so comfortable and i love the simplicity of the room. Everything were within reach. Would come again if i ever visit Alor Setar.

We went to Alor Setar to attend relatives' wedding reception & dinner for the day. It was a holiday season(3 days before X'mas), and almost most of the hotel are fully booked. We travelling with many young children, thus we had booked 3 rooms in this hotel for that night. The hotel was located in the city center, just right opposite the "Nasi Lemak Ong" kopitiam (in case you are a fan of Nasi Lemak Ong ). The hotel is old, the deco are out of fashion, but the Deluxe room is really spaceous for young children running around. The hotel staff are warm and friendly, they has helped us to arrange the 3 rooms together instead of scatter everywhere in this peak season. The best part is they have a swimming pool in the premise. The children had a great fun time at the pool before went for the wedding dinner that night. Car parking at the hotel premise is convenient which campared to other hotel that we went that night. Overall stay is very pleasant, and value for stay.

Spacious family room. The bedding (1 king + 1 single bed combined) was enough to comfortably fit the five of us (even when our two youngest children are rugged sleepers conquering the middle of the king bed). Water pressure and hot water was consistent. Clean and the staffs were very helpful. My only negative feedback would be that there is no lift. Being a family of five tends to have quite a bit of baggage. So, getting the second floor was a bit troublesome. But having said that, the front office staff did offer assistance. All in all, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay for a family first time in Alor Setar...

You can almost experience the best of Alor Setar within walking distance. Huge shopping mall, iconic tower, the legendary 'Pekan Rabu' and their good eateries, stadium, and the beautiful state mosque. The lobby however was like a sad welcome ambiance of a cheap motel and the absence of elevator was saddening because I had to watch a very pregnant woman climb 3 flight of stairs to get to her room. However the room itself was well accommodated. The room came with a beautiful view of Alor Setar TM Tower. Huge space, AC, towel, soap, hot shower, clean sheet and pillow.Pretty much your above 3* hotel stuff. On negative sides, the curtain was about to break we afraid we had to pay and injured my kids if those thing collapsed.The water pressure was so low we had to complain and resolved by the next morning. Hot water is provided for taking at the water dispenser place outside at every floor I think. A medium sized pool manned by a lifeguard is free for hotel guest which is a very huge plus for the price we paid. Made my kids happy. Parking is plenty. Surely will revisit and I saw the hotel is expanding with a new annexe. Good stuff!

The hotel is nice and neat. The room is big and comfortable although my room in 1st floor do not have any mirror except in bathroom (my friend's room in the 2nd floor have mirror outside the bathroom). It is close to Tol Plaza Alor Setar (PLUS highway) and close to major attractions in Alor Setar. Breakfast is provided although we opted for breakfast at outside at the famous Roti Celaru (very near to the hotel). This hotel just have 2 floors of room so there is no elevator provided.

The hotel is located very near to Alor Setar South Tol (5 minutes by drive)The surroundings of this hotel is very quiet. The staff are very nice and checking in and checking out is very fast and convenient. The room and the bathroom are very clean and spacious. Air-condition and Water heater are working fine. At night the hotel is very quiet and can guarantee a good night sleep. The hotel is around 15 minutes drive to city center (subjected to traffic condition). Grab car is easily assesable and the hotel can help to call for taxi if needed.

Rented a triple sharing room. A very comfortable room with good bed and shower. Nice aircond and LCD TV. A walking distance to Alor Star Mall. 1 km from Alor Setar Selatan Toll (PLUS Hiway). 10 minutes drive to Alor Setar City Center. A few Tahi Seafood restaurants near the hotel operating from early evening until very late night. The only thing I not happy is this is the only hotel I have ever stay that requires all guest to take off their shoes. A bit troublesome especially for us with kids. Very clean hotel and of course very cheap.

Location : Not in walking distance to the city centre and the only public transport to go here is taxi/uber/grab. For local drivers, easy to find the hotel, clearly can see from the road. Car park is quite limited and no security at the car park since this hotel building is in the shop lot. Food : There are halal restaurant and chinese restaurant around. Fast food is inside Alor Setar Mall which is in walking distance from this hotel. Shopping : Although it is not in walking distance to Pekan Rabu/Aman Central in City Centre, there is Alor Setar Mall/Pacific which is in walking distance from this hotel. Cleanliness : Room and toilet very clean. Facilities : Internet ok. Sharing iron and water dispanser (Hot & Cold -Coway) available at the corridor. Staff : Helpfull and can speak english. Deposit RM20 and will be returned after check out. Value for money : Worth it for RM60 price. (Deposit RM20 and will be returned after check out).

I have asked for a non-smoking room but it seemed that the previous person smoked in the room as the pillows were covered by the smoking smell. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for those who would like to plan for a short stay in Alor Setar! The room is clean in general, ample parking spaces, strategy location, and the price are affordable. However, you may hear noises outside of your room.

Strategic location and suitable for participant of Alor Setar Half Marathon just 500m to the starting/finishing line which is opposite to Alor Setar Tower and Aman Sentral Mall. Clean Room with ceiling fan and split type AC with small open wardrobe and clean toilet with water heater but the common area inside the building need to be tidied up. Friendly caretaker/receptionist. Ample of fenced open parking space. Free hi-speed WiFi. Recommended to runners and will repeat my stay in future.

The environment is good which is quiet because it is situated in a housing area., however it is near to town area with 5 minutes drive. The triple room condition is good and have big space to put your belongings, the toilet is clean and nice with two shower for your choice to use with hot water provided. Overall it is good to have a stay at here. No worry on parking because there is an designated area in the home stay for parking

Though the hotel is a bit far from town, it is still a nice place to stay. The staff is nice - didn't get their names, but they are super friendly. It's cheap, even cheaper when booking online. For me and my friend, who are not from Alor Setar and has never stepped foot in the city, this hotel is quite a nice place to live in. To get anywhere, we took Grab and it doesn't cost as much. Recommending this to anyone who's looking for budget hotel. :)

This property is also listed on ABnB, and when I booked it here the calendar was not synced to ABnB and so it was double booked!! 2 families for the same night. And the owner very ignorantly assumed we are the same family simply because we both were Indians, and responded to both of us. Imagine our horror when we find 3 cars waiting outside the house when we got back late after our event. And we were asked to leave at 1am! As the other family was a bigger grp and the owner could not find a replacement for them. The house on its own is lovely, very clean and well equipped with necessities. But the owners ignorance and Agoda's inefficiency in syncing the calendars really made this a nightmare for me and my family.

The staff was so courteous, polite and friendly even at 4am. The manager will do his level best to answer all of the guest enquiries with a constant smile. The room service is available 24x7 through out the entire year. The room was spacious, clean and very beautiful. My stay here was like in paradise and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a luxurious stay with their loved ones but within an affordable range. The best hotel in Alor Setar.
