Kota Bharu City Centre hotels & places to stay

Easy to find, parking available as side and rear. reception very attentive and as my partner is invalid gave us a 1st floor room. which was clean and well appointed with water vending machine. shower room clean. our two nights stay here was nice. within easy reach of shops and food places. for breakfast there is small coffee shop making excellent roti telure and nasi lemak at corner of street. I would recommend this budget hotel for stays in Kota Bharu

Pretty good. Gym is fun. Loc is great. City is nice, with a few interesting museums and a useful place to stock up for working travellers like ourselves (stationary mostly, the hostel is next to a stationary shop). Guy was pretty grumpy and unhappy - got the vibe he was just sick of looking after tourists. He was hardly ever their and would lock up when he left, which means you couldn't get in to the hostel common area (library, gym, couches). Otherwise hostel is good. Other than gym, no standout features, but solid all round. The roof top has been neglected, its now a swampy smokers/garbage dump up their, so avoid that haha. Cold showers, but its Malaysia so who cares.

The three of us drove and it took us about 2 hours to find the hotel after we reached Kota Bharu town. This is in spite of the fact that we have a GPS set in our car. The problem was that we are unable to log in the address of the hotel. Perhaps it was too new, too much recent development in the area or some other issues. We found out that its location co-ordinates was mentioned on its name card. It will be helpful if these co-ordinates can also be made available on Agoda's web-site for this hotel. This is a no-frills hotel and we are happy with our stay there. However some vending machines for cold/hot drinks and snacks will be a bonus though the hotel has a spacious communal kitchenette and dining room.

I FELT VERY COMFORTABLE TO STAY AT G HOME HOTEL.GOOD LOCATION AND NICE NIGHT VIEW INFRONT OF HOTEL.THE LOCATION IS VERY NEAR TO THE FAMOUS PASAR SITI KHATIJAH,SHOPPING BAZAARS AND MUSEUM.THE EXCELLENT OF STAFFS PROVIDED GOOD SERVICES , MANAGEMENT IS GOOD AND VALUE OF MONEY.THE ROOM IS VERY CLEAN AND THE DESIGN OF THE ROOM IS VERY NICE ,ESPECIALLY WITH THE HOTEL THEME COLOUR - GREEN COLOUR- THE BED WAS COMFORTABLE TOO... OVERALL IS GOOD ... :0) I WILL CHOOSE THIS G HOME HOTEL AT NEXT COMING KOTA BHARU,KELANTAN.

The staff was very very friendly, they also recommended us few local restaurant to try, even teached us how to go to the restaurant since we're not familiar with Kota bharu. Room service was extremely fast, I called for room service,in less than 1 minute, the staff ring my door bell. Bedroom size was normal, highly recommended for backpack travelers or for those who want to stay in Kota Bharu for one day to transit to Pulau Perhentian. Value for money! :) I will definitely come back to MyPlace Hotel if I ever pay a visit KB in future :)

I live in Kota Bharu where interruption of water supply is frequent. So this hotel is our escape place because it is cheap - RM30 - RM80 per night. We love the superior room with window because it is a little bit spacious with Sg Kelantan view. During Ramadhan, we dont have to think about what to eat, where to buy because this hotel is equip with room service and the food is delicious. Overall, will come again if there is no water supply again in our house. Haha

The best thing is WIFI services, full bar at room and secured. Water heater and local channels available. It was not too bad although we feel insecure in the room especially at night, aircond not cold as the next room, only local channels available with one Thai channel without sub, Astro only available near front counter. Be prepared to climb up and down through stairs, no lift and front counter would be right after the stairs. Too bad for those who is having small kids with stroller or old people with wheelchairs. Although the hotel is located beside toy shop, it is not welcoming to children. We did not include breakfast so unable to comment regarding food.

We arrived late just as member of staff was leaving, she said the room was open and key inside - all ok. when we went into room, before doing anything, we inspected bed for bed bugs as we usually do . lifted the pillow and found 3 bugs crawling around and once we looked around the rest of the bed they were in every corner . with no staff in the building we contacted both numbers given via whatsapp. The first of which ignored my messages (I know this as I could see they were online) , the second replied telling me there were no bugs as she had already checked! I told her there were and asked if there were any other rooms as we would leave if not and as it was late we needed to know asap. There was no rooms left - fair enough - so I asked for her to refund us as we would be leaving. I was told this was against policy, and when i asked for more information regarding this policy I was ignored. I can't understand why I am the one losing money over this - our two options were either stay the night in a bug infested bed and risk infecting every accomodation we stay at following, or leave and find another place to stay. Highly doubt any effort will be made to control the infestation as they were denying there were any bugs at all and ignored the video I had sent of them as proof. Extaremely frustrating and the worst experience we have had throughout our 2 months travelling in southeast asia!

Location: Located very near to a few attractions in Kota Bharu (Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah, famous Nasi Ulam Chegu, Istana Jahar, Kompleks Kraftangan, Sultan Ismail Petra Arch). Staff: The receptionist lady is very friendly. Spent a few hours talking about the city with her and she even suggested some nice places to eat. Facilities: Everything is worth the money except the water pressure in the toilet is very low. Otherwise, it will be a perfect stay. Environment: Quiet. I had a very good sleep there without any outside noise. Anyway, you can actually hangout in the common room while enjoying outside view. Free tea and coffee the whole day. Overall, it was a very nice stay. Will definitely recommend to travelers especially to those who are in transit to/from Perhentian Island. Maybe hotel management should consider to provide single type room/dorm room to cater more single travelers like me.

It's no wonder Ewan's Guesthouse has so many good reviews... he attracts good people! Like many, we needed a place to stay in Kota Bharu for one night before heading over to the Perhentians, and with all the reviews commenting on the warmth of Ewan and his family, I couldn't resist booking us in for the experience (not to mention the great price!). Ewan was quick to email me back about transportation to/from the airport, and upon our arrival we were greeted with the warmth I've read in so many of the reviews. His son even ran out and gave my boyfriend a big hug around the legs. So cute! Ewan's wife, Amy, is so kind and quite funny! She was cracking jokes with us right off the bat... love her! They both have such great, laid back, friendly energy... it's no surprise that's most of whom they attract. Bonus was the three other travelers we met that evening (a young solo traveler, and another couple) ended up becoming friends we hung out with on Long Beach over the next few days, too! Ewan's Guesthouse is nothing fancy, accommodations-wise, but we appreciated our private A/C room, and they were smart to integrate the vacant/in use locks for shared bathrooms. They take great care in making sure their guests are fed and taken care of during their stay, and I'm both in awe and grateful for their service. All the best to you & yours, Ewan & family!

Two best budget hotel in Kb are dynasty inn and crystal lodge. However , I could not get a good deal in either hotels, so had to chose Flora place Hotel. I got an offer at agoda at RM 106++ ( without breakfast ). We enjoyed a our stay here and find the room and bathroom are clean and decent. I find Flora place to be one of the good hotel in KB. I had to pay RM 13 per pax for the breakfast ,and satisfied with the buffet. My wife liked the breakfast as well. Overall as a family we had positive experience here. In my next stay at KB, I will stay either in Crystal lodge or Dynasty Inn as these two hotels are way better than Flora Place. I recommend this hotel if you get a good deal and want to stay at a good location.

I took my family to Kota Bharu on the 11 November and we decided to stay at the hotel after seeing the good review of the hotel.Initially I found it difficult to go to the hotel but after asking around I managed to find it.Since then, I had no difficulties moving around as the hotel is strategically located and is near to all the places of interest.The room is clean, spacious and nice but the toilet is a bit too small and cram.There is no window in my room and it is a death trap if there is a fire.Morever the room is too near and there is no ledge for the adjoining room.My neighbour was very noisy and the smoke was trapped in between the corridor making the place very smelly.The hotel management should put a sign that no smoking is allowed in the rooms and my neighbouts were banging the wall eventhough it was past midnight.Anyway we had a nice stay except for these few reasons above.
