The chalet probably invested most of their earning in their exterior. They need better staff training to provide a good service. Staff repeatedly had us to shift our car, as the parking was very limited. And when we were finally done and got down the car. The next car came right behind and parked at the space where we were asked to move away from. We politely asked for clothes to wipe outdoor table and chair, was expecting a housekeeper to assist us, but we were given a stack of serviette(at least a piece of proper cloth? it was right after the rain). Carpark was very limited by a cliff, we decided to skip dinner as we were afraid the carpark would be full. The slope was rather steep. My wife was pregnant, and I just had a major knee injury, so it was rather difficult for us. But shouldn't be an issue for a normal person. We were unfornate to be there when they had many customers. All meals were sold out by 9pm. No snacks were available. So be sure to prepare some for yourself. Toilet bowl was not clean. Sink didn't have a stopper installed, so anything small in size would go deep into unreachable pipe hole. Hot water was very inconsistent. You get 1 minute of hot water in every 5 minute. On a good side, exterior of the chalet was extremely beautiful. Resident rooster that greeted us early in the morning was so cute. We have stayed a many better valued accomodation. Thus, we won't be going again. Lack of steady hot shower was the main reason. Set a low expectation and you should have a satisfactory stay.
I'm born & bred Malaysian, having been to Cameron Highlands since I was a kid. As I grow into adulthood and appreciate the finer points of dining, I've learn to appreciate how hard it is to find decent scones in Malaysia, much less tasty ones. Bala's scones blew me away from the first bite. There's really nothing much more to say about this - just try it and you'll never try any others in Cameron. Aside from that, the hotel itself is a beautiful little chalet tucked in a corner. Admittedly it's not as well upkept as other commercial hotels in Cameron, but it's clean and comfortable, and most importantly, has unlimited supply of hot water (yes, HOT, if needed). If you enjoy your showers, you might want to bring your own shower head for maximum enjoyment though - theirs is... basic. But at this price point, all these minor imperfections is forgivable. You can check Youtube for the rest of the chalet; it's beautiful and is literally irreplaceable, as the shrubbery has well and truly covered the entire place. It's really a "one with nature" kind of resort, very quaint, very peaceful. We even had a day where mist was literally gently blowing directly into our room window (enveloping the whole resort as well, naturally). Seriously, go look up more pics & vids online. It's beautiful. It's very important to manage expectations when staying here - don't expect 5-star hotel treatment, and you'll enjoy it here. Don't get me wrong, the staff & service are great and friendly, and you'll often see Bala himself chatting up the occupants. Think of it as "having a holiday at Bala's place" and this'll be a stay you'll have a hard time forgetting.

The location is close to tana Rata and it is ideal surrounded by flowers and nature. I asked for a room with a Mountain View. That was the best part of Bala’s. I had 4 nights in this hotel. Areas of improvement: The room has an attic attached and extra beds . It feels neglected with broken bed and wasn’t cleaned. The room smells of old age and like no one has lived in it for a long time. The TV was broken and no remote control and sitting on the dresser and pieces of the TV was in drawer. Housekeeping needs to be reminded for 2 days to clean my room and tidy up. Services can be improved. The food was freshly prepared but it can be better with the price I paid. Sunset high tea for two was almost RM 100 but the scones was bland and texture was not good. There isn’t much to the offerings. Many things in this hotel can be improve which will make it perfect. The staff Mervyn was exceptional and went above and beyond his duty to help me and offering assistant. That made my stay feel very welcome.
Room was really clean, neat and nice, very friendly staff at restaurant during breakfasts, excellent service by the waiter and the chef. The best view from the room. My entire family love the stay will definitely come back again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was absolutely mesmerized by its beauty. The vines, the view, the fresh air and the building itself, so charmingly vintage. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I’ll definitely be coming back. Mr. Bala himself greeted us during check-in, which made the experience even more special. It’s rare to see that kind of personal hospitality these days. I had read many negative reviews before my trip, but honestly, my experience was the complete opposite. I’m really glad I chose this hotel. My 3D2N stay was amazing. Every corner of this place has its own unique touch, making it perfect for photos. I explored not just the grounds but also the upper side of the property, and every part left me in awe. It’s incredibly scenic and beautiful, like walking through a hidden gem. The room did have a slightly old smell, but it was clean and honestly, what do you expect? It’s an old building with character. I’m an easy person to please, and I still found it comfortable and nice. If you’re looking for a modern vibe, go stay in a typical hotel in the concrete jungle. I wanted peace and a healing atmosphere and this was exactly the place for that. Breakfast was okay, but what really stood out was their thoughtful gesture of providing us with a complimentary pot of hot chocolate and teh tarik. It made us feel so welcome and added a lovely personal touch to our stay.
